Special People United to Ride (SPUR) Newsletter
What a wonderful summer for SPUR. This past July we received a fabulous surprise. "Alyssa's Angels" from West Long Branch, NJ donated a Surehands morotized life & care system (valued at $8,800). This lift hleps students transition from wheelchair to the horse.
"Alyssa's Angels" was founded in May 2004 in honor of Alyssa Cantaffa. Seven years ago Alyssa was born healthy. She developed a cough at three weeks of age calledPertussis or "Whooping Cough" which changed her life. Doctors gave her only a fifty percent chance of surviving. Miraculously, she recovered but the illness left Alyssa physically and mentally challenged.
Alyssa's parents are so grateful that Alyssa survived her illness that they started "Alyssa's Angels" to assist Monmouth County children with disabilities by purchasing durable medical or therapeutic recreation equipment.
We at SPUR are grateful to be the recipients of their generosity.
